📣 Finding Family: submit to our virtual zine!
Submit to be featured in our collaboration with the Young Creative Indian Space for their inaugural South Asian Creativity Festival
Hi friends! We apologise for the extra email this month but we’re super excited to invite you to participate in an an ongoing collaboration project between The Rights Collective and Young Creative Indian Space for their inaugural South Asian Creativity Festival. We are exploring the topic of ‘Finding Family’ and invite you to send us your reflections to be anonymously featured.
How has your relationship to the idea of family has shaped you?
Who do you consider family?
What contradictions exist when it comes to how you feel about family?
When we think about the word "family”, many of us hope for a caring, non-judgemental space, but we know this may not always be true. The concept of family carries with it weight of personal experiences as individuals, cultural norms and systems, and generational ideas and customs that have been deeply embedded within our understandings. Relationships within the family narrative - whether they be your birth family or your chosen family - are usually a lot more complicated than that.
We would like to know! Send us your ideas in any form of media - be it a drawing, video, writing, audio or anything else! Deadline: Monday 8 November.
We invite you to be as vulnerable, brutally honest and transparent as you’d like - we want this to be a space for you to share as freely as possible, without the pressure of being perceived or judged by anyone. We have decided to keep all submissions anonymous to ensure your privacy is maintained and provide a space where we can speak about the subject freely.
If you have any questions feel free to contact Inaya. We look forward to seeing your beautiful work. 🌻
